ronmacho Posted April 26, 2014 Report Share Posted April 26, 2014 Hi guys I have question. I have a 215 liter aquarium and I'm using a Fluval E-series 200W heater for it and it has served me well. Now I just bought a 500 liter tank and I want to buy a good quality heater. What brand and model type can you recommend? Also if I buy 2 (one for each end), how many watts each? Adrienne Posted April 26, 2014 Report Share Posted April 26, 2014 I run two in my 450 litre tank - one is set at the temp I want the tank to be at, the other is set 2 degrees lower. My main one is a Jager rated for a tank up to 1000 litres, the other one is an aqua one 300. The Jager is set at the higher temperature. The Aqua one is a back up heater. Neither come on much. A single 300w heater probably will be enough for a 500L. If it's not, get another, it's not a big deal if the temp sags a few degrees overnight for a week or two until you get a new one. morfin Posted April 29, 2014 Report Share Posted April 29, 2014 Just beware with the AquaOne heaters, they do tend to get a white mouldy looking covering on the black parts for a while when you first use them. I posted on here about it and it seems common, but haven't had it in my fluval heaters. It didn't seem to harm anything but I didnt like it so tend to stay away from AquaOne heaters now - although they are generally cheapest.
