camtang
I am worried about the bubbly look, I won't lie about that. But I am also woried about my DIY ability, which is why Iwas looking at a pre-made unit. All the running gear will be under the tank in the sump region, so the gear in the tank is not an issue. Other than the lack of DIY skill, I still havn't got my mind around how the Rex Grigg reactor works. Is it just a place where C02 enters water and gets smashed up via water as opposed to the glass disk diffuser that smashs up C02 on entry of the tank? Godly3vil
That's pretty much exactly it dude, the co2 rises against the flow of the water which slowly dissolves the co2 into the water. There are lots of pre made reactors out there that you can purchase if you don't trust your diy skills.

NoFishing
Easy to see what a HUGE difference just a little bit of green makes. :bggrn: Very nice so far.
Sophia
I like the contrast between the blue background, the sand, the green of the plants and the black of the rocks.
camtang
Thanks guys. By the rocks do you mean the wood Sophia? Can anyone who is able to ID the pants please let me know if they are not Amazonian. My main concerns are the small ones at the front. Are they Mirco Sword? ( In my mind they are )
Insectile
Looking good! The plants in the foreground look to me like dwarf saggitaria, could be wrong though.
camtang
Dwarf sag you say, I may have to get you round to confirm or denie such things.

camtang
Sweeet, two is enough for me. I will pull them tonight. What is an amazon plant that stays small and will work well in that corner?
Sophia
a small sword ? parviflorus, like the one in my minifish tank down at the front-middle

camtang
Lights, camera, ACTION!!!! My c02 creation is a little poor, plenty of bubbles entering water colum, and not spreading very far. :dunno: The drawing board comes back out
SamH
Simply maintain good circulation, most of the CO2 in the water isn't in the form of bubbles. What's the drop checker saying?
camtang
Drop checker :dunno: Whats a drop checker? :sml1: Don't know, I do not have it in at the moement, still to lazy/useless to get the mix stuff I need. So I should not be concerned that the bubbles coming out of the outlet are only getting 1/3 down then? My water mover pooed it self tonight. So there is much less movement than last night
SamH
Why ask us a question when you have much more reliable testing methods in front of you? If the drop checker is yellow furthest away from the diffuser then you have no issue.
camtang
Because I have not set something up this way before, so I am unsure of what is working or what is not working.
SamH
Well a drop checker is the best way to test how well your diffusion method is working. If only looking at a photo of water was a sure fire way of determining CO2 levels.
camtang
I gave you a description as well as a photo..... I guess I will get some liquid for it then.
camtang
Question time. I want the plants in this tank to have the ability to grow out of the water, I asume this means taking the top off and giving the plants what they need light and fert wise. My questions are, if the lid is off avaporation is going to be at a highr level, how will this work with EI doesing? DO I top up between water changes or just go at it every week like stated? And also, from my poor photos can any one tell me if I have plants that have the ability to grow out the top?
camtang
Any body got any idea on the previous question? 15 Lemon tetras added 2 days ago, they are as responsive as Malawis, so I am kinda stoked with that. All my dry ferts arrived today, so will be onto EI in the next 2 weeks. Lotus's have sent some new leaves to the top, and a couple swords have shoot a new leaf. Li@m
Judging from this pic you have no plants that can get out of the water. Do you have Africans in there? Cause then laters to your plants.
camtang
Judging from this pic you have no plants that can get out of the water Don't be so mean. Can you Id some/all of them for me? No Africans, it used to be my Mixed tank now it is not. Lemons, Discus, Plecos, and maybe apistos and hatchets if I can make them fit the bio will be the end stock
