Red tail shark....

....he is chasing my female swordtails in my 200l. my male just died :tears: and Red tail shark has only been doing this since the male died. Is it the fact that there is no male?

RTS's are usually fine until they hit a certain size, or age, then they get aggressive. A few are fine but the majority are trouble. They are better the bigger the aquarium.

he is about 6-8 months old and 4-5cm

When the male died the red tail became the dominant fish of the tank... hes just telling them whos boss

thanks GuppyHunter, probably just a phase hes going through. He used to chase my tetra, but now he is chasing the swordtails. Funny that the only fish in the tank he can't scare is the 2-3 cm BN the Dwarf Gourami and cories.

I doubt it will be a stage, I would suspect it will keep going like this.

I had one in a small, overstocked community tank - no worries. Moved everyone to a 450 l. and a few weeks later he had to go to the LFS because he got so aggro :dunno:
