Dr A
Not sure why, but they're about the only plant you can't buy on TM. Could be a semi profitable little sideline. Chop off all the leaves and trim the roots so they don't melt on arrival?
camtang
Sweet, well I will have a heap for sale in about a week
Sophia
I have some of these and they are the hardiest & best crypts I've ever had. I don't think they are wendtii though, I think they had more pointy ended leaves and brownish veins. These are a little more rounded at the end and a deep green. Godly3vil
Mine all started like that Sophia then they melted and grew back like this? Not sure why?
camtang
I havnt noticed any melting with these, even after planting them
superico
IMO the crypts on the pictures look like a cross between cryptocoryne wendtii and affinis
camtang
So are we thinking Wendtii and affinis?
supasi
So are we thinking Wendtii and affinis? No It is plain old C. affinis Once it starts to grow it will spread via runners easily. It is slow but reasonable hardy( Crypt standards) Remember no crypts like sudden changes in environment Temp fluctuations, chemistry , lighting etc will cause crypts to melt. camtang
I will lock that in then. Interestingly enough the whole "crypt melt" thing I havnt noticed ever any of these melting, including uping the temp, lowering as well as when I rehomed them and have taken them out and put them in new tanks
