tandemcartshrimp
Hi again all, I have a 21.6L tank with 7 native shrimp and a single (sadly the other died) White cloud Minnow. I was just wonder what else i could have in there, I also have a couple of smallish snails. Cheers in advance
disgustipated
if your tank is not heated you do not have many other options. especially considering it is so small. maybe you could get a few more mountain minnows.
tandemcartshrimp
I was kinda hoping I may be able to get like a chineese algae eater, or a borneo sucker. what sort of sized tank would I need to get either of those?
disgustipated
algae eaters get quite big so not recommended for such a small tank. you might be able to get away with a borneo sucker. there is another thread on them at the moment. check it out here: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=63105&p=681521&hilit=suckers#p681521
M@.
I would say you definately need a few more minnows, or give away the one you have. I have a sucker in a tank that size, all good, so long as there is plenty of hiding spots and foraging areas. Just have to watch the stocking levels if you get more minnows aswell. Sophia
A tank that small with a good filter could get quite a bit of current going for a happy borneo sucker, I'd have at least 2. If it goes near a window you could get some fresh green algae in there for them to eat too. what sort of filter is in there?
tandemcartshrimp
The tank is a stock Blue Planet Hexy Midi 21.6L If I can I would like 2 suckers and 3 Minnows as well as the 7 shrimp, is that possible?
Sophia
probably ok but the more current the better for the suckers
randomsam1001
probably ok but the more current the better for the suckers :iag: suckers prefer lots of current
Rouseabout
I was kinda hoping I may be able to get like a chineese algae eater, or a borneo sucker. what sort of sized tank would I need to get either of those? IMO stay away from the chinese algae eater. My daughter has one in same model tank which I need to rehome as getting too big after only 4 months. Also aggressive towards her neons and her Betta.neons have signs of being attacked and one has disappeared..... :dnc1:
blueether
:iag: suckers prefer lots of current +1 I had 4 in this tank before an accident and I lost 3 of them: This was in a 2 ft x 1 ft so just over 2x the volume, thread about the tank here viewtopic.php?f=4&t=59465&hilit=riffle&start=
alexyay
I assume borneos and dwarf puffers wouldn't mix?
Godly3vil
You assume correct, they both prefer different temps and puffers don't like much current unlike borneos which need a lot of it.

Ah, thank you. I somehow thought they liked current, not sure where I got that info from.
Hali
How about get the minnow some bros, or some leopardfish? They're pretty neat.
BikBok
I had a Hexy Midi ( currently in storage) .. you could set the filter flow to full and take off the spout thingee (for more splash/current) and have a Borneo Sucker.. having the six sides means lots more glass surface for algae to grow for him too! Let us know on what you decide. I kept a betta and a small whiptail in mine.
