nzfishkeeper
I have never seen so many goldfish in such a small tank as in this auction photo- No wonder all the fish are sitting on the bottom being non-active. (PS- The tank measures 300 by 300 by 350 high) I wouldn't even put one goldfish in a tank twice that size.

F15hguy
lol, sometimes I like to play the "what has trade me got today to make me shake my head" game too...... too often it ends up with posts here.....
nzfishkeeper
Re-reading the auction is even worse, They have no filter in the tank either I see there is a bid so I hope the new owner doesn't keep the fish like that once they pick them up although I am tempted to bid on them my self to put in my pond i am setting up. SamH
Are threads like this allowed on the forums? I would love to be able to post images (perhaps with the username blurred out) and quotes from their auctions for a bit of a laugh. After informing them of the correct way to do things of course. I don't see why not? Maybe we could make this thread into one about funny and strange(sometimes stupid) things on trademe?
SamH
The Rules":3i5mj4c5]Online Auctions or Classified Advertisements: You are not permitted to offer any items for sale on the FNZAS Fishroom forums that are also listed on TradeMe or any other online auction or classified advertisement site. You may not post any links or references to TradeMe, other online auction, or classified advertisement site to discuss an item for auction/sale, this applies to expired listings and linked pictures unless you are genuinely interested in buying a particular aquatic related item and want to learn more about its use and if it will suit your purpose. Any attempt to use this site in an attempt to bypass the TradeMe, other Online Auction or Classified advertisement systems is a breach of our rules. disgustipated
so if we saved the TM pic onto our own PC, changed the file name and deleted the TM user name from the pic, it is no longer "linked" to trade me, then i reckon we could slip it through on a technicality... nzfishkeeper
OK then, I think we should be alright if we blur out the username so its just a picture?

I would love to be able to post images (perhaps with the username blurred out) and quotes from their auctions for a bit of a laugh. After informing them of the correct way to do things of course. I'm not sure why showing pics of fish kept in poor conditions, or inappropriate tank size/stocking levels etc is considered "a bit of a laugh'. The aim of this site is to inform people of the correct way to keep their fish in the best possible way. Such posts achieve nothing. I am sure you may inform them of the correct way to keep fish where their original ad is posted but to then post it here does not help them. disgustipated
this thread clearly demonstrates the incorrect way to keep fish! is there really anything we can do to help prevent this sorta stuff happening?

F15hguy
ummmm, by doing threads like this before we have found good homes for abused fishies., I concede the point about removing the TM username, but think if we are all aware of this then hopefully some one with a few spare $$$ can save the poor little guys. very useful thread imo and we should keep doing them
nzfishkeeper
Sorry if i have upset anyone with this thread, this wasn't meant to be the point. I was just trying to show the community something I found astonishing.(How many goldfish someone has in one tank)

Caryl
I don't think anyone is upset. Just don't link to TM or other auction sites. Removing the username from pics would also be good.
