The above listed fish (all the same as far as I am aware) are the ones used in fish spas, where they eat the dead skin etc from the body. Does anyone know if we have these in New Zealand? Here you go, from the wikipedia article are the latin names and synonyms. Discognathus crenulatus Discognathus lamta Discognathus obtusus Discognathus rufus Garra lamta Garra rufa crenulata Garra rufa gymnothorax Garra rufus They look similar to the various non-pleco "Algae Eaters" but I don't recognize any of those names. reef Posted December 13, 2012 Report Share Posted December 13, 2012 Gyrinocheilus aymonieri. However foot spas are getting banned is some countries as you could get HIV and hepatitis C.
