I find the easiest way is to brag to my mates that I can run non stop around the mount (3.5Kms)

then I have no choice but to do it, without that sort of motivation I walk half of it :P

never brag unless you can back it up :sage: :sage:

Hahahaha that is awesome Fishguy LOL. I had my hubby running next to me and when we got home he sat down on the deck and said, thank goodness we are done. I asked why and he said he wanted to stop at the 3km mark but there was no way that he was going to stop while I was still going :slfg:

There are heaps of barefoot running type shoes out there - you can get ones that are like toe shoes and stuff - lots of stores stock them and they sound like the perfect option for you.

Otherwise you could always go for the Nike Free range - they're a bit more padded than freerunners but a similar concept.

+1 for Nike Free. I have two pairs of those and use them for the gym and running

.Wooooooooooo had an awesome run this morning. I ran 6.05km in 59.03 minutes, that is 9.45 minutes per kilometer, I am getting closer and closer to my goal. Also discovered an amazing product I use in my shoes through a friend, its called trampers friend, its amazing. It protects my skin on my heel while running. I think my shoes are completely broken in now

I need some of that stuff for my toes, they get hot and irritated on a long run

My friend sells it, she told me about it when I told her my heels were sore after my first 5km run. It is magic. I think its $8 for a 30g bag and $20 for a 100g, not too sure about the price, but its amazing stuff. I have re used the same piece two times now since its just for my heel. I put a plaster first and then the trampers friend so it does not get sweaty or wet. Its would work wonders for your toes, people rave about it on the website http://trampersfriend.com/ they weave it inbetween their toes, ofcourse my toes allready have their own special compartment so I don't need it LOL

I know you're on a roll mcrudd but be careful not to increase your distance by too much or you could end up over tired and then sick or injured. If you've only run 6.08 before, stick with 7. Maybe go for 8 if you are not feeling stiff or thirsty in the last km or so. You have heaps of time till the marathon.

Spoilsport old lady over and out :digH:

Big run done !!! We ran 10.05km in 1 hour and 44 minutes, our pace was slower it was 10 minutes 20 seconds per kilometer, but we are just impressed that we completed the whole ten kilometers without stopping :)

We ran with the idea in mind that we would stop and walk once we get too tired, but we ended up completing it. Next week it will be 3,3 and 5 then the week after 5,5, and 10 once the marathon is closer then we will push it to 15. Now I need a nice cool shower

well done

is this you out running with your husband and kids?

Kids are on their bikes, they cycle to a park and play there until we are done. Its a bit too far for them, with the 6km run they stayed on their bikes but not with the 10. They had a ball

cool

I am 'thinking' of upping my running to train for the half marathon in Auckland on Feb 17th. I have pretty much decided to do it but at present my heels are still giving me a bit of trouble and it scares me off it as I don't want to make it worse. what to doooo :nilly:

Got my trampers friend this week, I used it for a 4km run and it was quite good, and just now on 8.7km. I thought that my toes would get hot with it but that doesn't happen at all. I'm still experimenting with how I weave it about in my toes. I also like how it felts with the fibres in my socks and makes an extra layer of sock.

And I've decided I will be doing the half marathon on Feb 17th. However, in order to allow myself to not like running that far, I've decided not to enrol till nearer the time in case I run 20km and hate it. :cr10:

Mel are you planning to run in any events or just keep running the distances with Mcrudd Running Club?
