snapperhead
I have beed looking around in pet shops for java moss and unfortunately they don't have any. I have noticed this moss growing everywhere in my backyard a while ago but have remained a bit skeptical that it could go in the tank. I picked a few bunches and have left them in some water overnight. Can these go inside an aquarium and be safe? I can guarantee that no fertilizers/weed killers etc have been near it. livingart
they are used to growing out of water so will probably die in tank

blueether
Some mosses will do ok, if they come from a very wet environment. I think that they will do better in a cold water aquarium though. I have had some success with an umbrella moss that was completely submerged when found, and another moss (common garden type) that was growing in a very wet area. This second one is 1/2 submerged 1/2 emerged, the top 1/2 is doing much better than the 1/2 in the water.
