Jaide
A couple of lads have turned out to be one lad and one lass and now they're getting cosy. The lass is exhibiting "go away" behaviour to the other fish in the tank whereas the lad is digging in the cave (comes out with mouthfuls of sand and spits it out). My convicts had reversed roles with the female staying in the cave and the male keeping guard so I assume this is the norm for T-Bars? karina
The pair I used to have was the same. Male dug the pit then the female laid the eggs. Female then would care for the eggs while male protected. Awesome Parents. My male cared for young even when a few months old.
Jaide
Hmmm well, the pit digging endeavour is as far as it got and then I guess they lost interest, as they're both swimming around the tank as if nothing happened. Or eggs were laid and were eaten by the other fish in the tank - but I never saw the female in the cave, only the male :dunno: Maybe that was a practice run

Sheepsnana
Good to hear. What happened to them losing interest?
Jaide
They got more interested when I put them in a tank by themselves so they could get on with the job uninterrupted
