My last water test came back with higher than desired levels of nitrate. I have since been doing 50% water changes twice a week, rather than 25% weekly. LYNDYLOO Posted August 31, 2012 Report Share Posted August 31, 2012 The pics in that link look shocking Here's hoping your Pleco doesn't get that bad, maybe Furan 2 might be worth a try, I know it's an antibiotic and they don't usually work on something viral, but I guess it's worth a try. Current plan is to move him to the quarantine tank (with is heating up as we speak) and dose with melafix (anti bacterial, not as potent as furan 2). Sheepsnana Posted September 18, 2012 Author Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 Lymphocystis Three possible outcomes: 1) It will sort itself out between 6 and 12 months, where the pleco will develop an immunity and the growth will fall off. 2) The growth will grow too quickly and cover the plecos mouth, causing him to starve to death. (Actually uncommon, yuss!) 3) The fight with the growth will lower his immune system and he will suffer from a secondary fatal infection. Hoping for number 1... really, REALLY hoping.
