smurff
gudday all, its been a while sense I've been on here, but thought i would get back into it with a thread on the marine tank I'm working on so i had started by buying a 300L tank to convert into a marine tank. had a skimmer and lighting all ready for it, was on a roll. that all changed when i was in wellington at easter and drove back to auckland like this, yep, aqua reef 300, tank in the boot and stand and sump on the roof. got lots of strange looks on the drive home hahaha got it home and into the garage and did some playing about picked myself up an RO water unit, was time to start playing with water, sadly, tank was still in the garage as fresh water tank was yet to be moved. sarah didn't like the layout of the rocks, so changes were made and some power heads added. the power heads i got were crap in the end. not worth it at all. they were 12000L per hour trade me ones. also decided i didn't like the T5 lamps, so ordered LED units. great upgrade. also sorted out some dosing pumps and odds and ends. so then it was all moved into place as the tropical tank was now gone one thing i learnt, it was hard to get the rock were i wanted it once the tank was moved. but i was happy with it picture of behind the doors ended up replacing the wave pumps with some tunze ones. there not bad, for there price i would say there much better than the cheap poo ones. so after a while of cycling i got my first fish meet sally white spot lasted for 2 days, was worrying, never had white spot in any of my tanks before. also got 2 clowns, a leporde wrasse and some corals and annenomies and a cleaner shrimp forgot about this chap tank has been going well, just got a vortech mp10W pump for the tanks RHS. added a damsel on the weekend. tomorrow I'm ordering a new skimmer, the BM NAC 3+ as it will fit in the sump and give me a bit more space. and also a BM media reactor shall be fun

Dachende
Fantastic ! ! great to see some progress after all this time, I was wondering if you went through with your marine switch or not. Great photos too :nfs:

smurff
How have you found the Aqua one skimmer? for what it is its enough to get by. however its not really a great skimmer compared to other brands out there. its basically a copy of the Boyu. which is pretty cheap. with the aqua reef 300 theres not much space in the cupboard, so how the skimmer hangs over takes up useful space. the bubble magus NAC 3+ fits in the left section of the sump which will give me some floor space for a better place for my dosing containers. then i can fit the reactor sticking up where the dosing containers are on the right. something like that lol
smurff
Thank you everyone ! with work and everything have been rather busy, so i have not had time to get get back into lots of forums. but the change is made and the marine is running well and is really nice. quite a different experience from the tropical, a little more involved. but great fun

smurff
have found it a lot harder to take photos in this tank compared to the fresh water. salt water causing a few focus issues due to refraction or something? it feels like theres a lot more involved, but the hope is more things that are automated will help
