David R
Jag X festae is one of the few I really like, sometimes called Manaconda (if you're going to google it make ure you earch "manaconda fih" or "manaconda cichlid" not jut manaconda........... ), there seems to be a few more large female fetae around (compared to males, certainly my group turned out to be almot all girls) so it would be cool if someone with a big male jag got them together........... wee2
what is Texa's growth rate. they dont seem to be fast growers. I got a small school of them for 2 months and the growth is not noticable. have seen JagxTexas, Jag x Festae, Midas x FH, Midasx RH, FHx texas, Midasx Con, Conx JD, ... I am not a big fan but interest to see some hybrid around

Joe
Although I've never really been a fan of hybrid fish, some of those are wicked !drool: I have noticed a common pattern in a lot of those - anything with blood parrot in it is crap! Also the convict hybrids are pretty bland too. I love the EBJD x Jaguar! Awesome
David R
Yeah Si it is! Stupid HP netbook thing, not even that old... vieja X texas has nice colour but looks a bit funny in the face.

Jaxxnz
I love the EBJD x Jaguar! Awesome I would think this cross breeding would give the a stronger strain of EBJD..as i know EBJD are very sensitive in a community tank enviroment. Jag are well robust strain.. Or have i misunderstood? Will keep the angry festae for the moment sorry jack, she is the best tool i have for introducing red in a mix. I honestly dont think she would mix well with another. And with regard to the redhead, it seems to pop up frequently in the crosses i like but i still think they are ugly! May see how i go at growing out the FH's and some texas' for a start. Dont have enough space to do everything.
disgustipated
last week i added a 6-7cm male "green texas" (Herichthys carpintis) who has already fathered two batches with his ex wife, another carpintis, but recently he killed her and that's when i added him to my jag tank. just cleaning my tank today and i notice my female jag has eggs all up inside her cave. most of them are dull yellow in colour, 5% or so are white. what do they look like when fertilised?
disgustipated
also i think i will leave the eggs in there with their mum instead of removing them. jag is free to eat them if she decides to. and the pleco is the only fish she can't fight off so i will also remove my janitor from the tank for a few days to give jag a decent shot at hatching some fry. green texas x jag sounds interesting but my real interest lies in jag x ebjd

Fruju
Wow, awesome man. I'm impressed that she wants to breed. I reckon it'll be the live food you gave her.
disgustipated
yeah i suspected change of conditions and stuff would have had her primed.. then the moment i dropped that texas stud in there she let loose like a shore girl. has she laid eggs in your tank before?
