Tinted glass

I think it would look fine, I usually put tint (window tint that they use on car windows) on the sides of my tanks, I find it helps with not letting to much light into the tank, which in turn can cause algae.

I dont think there is a downside to this and I don't think it would look stupid.

Good Luck

I just built a 200L fish tank with tinted bottom, back and sides. Only the front, bracing and lids were made of clear. I really like the look of tinted glass and I agree with Lyndyloo, it gives more privacy and confidence to the fish. The only downside is less clear viewing angles for you to enjoy your aquarium so if it's a display tank, that might be a negative. My tank is going in the garage for breeding purposes so wasn't fussy :D

Here's the link to the thread I posted for my tank build

Thanks for your comments.

Yes it is for a display tank with lots of plants.

It is 350 litres with a rock 3D background.

I usually get the Aqua one tanks but thought for a planted tank a straight glass one would look better.

Does anyone have any photo's of theirs set up?

Cheers
