******************** FEBRUARY'S RESULTS *************************

It's been a while since I've done some tests (perhaps a little reminder to everyone else? :D), did them tonight heres what i got:

pH = 8.2

PO4 = 0ppm

NO3 = 0ppm

kH = 7.0

Ca = 380

Mg = 1100

Salinity = 1.025 @ 25 degrees (although peaks to 27.5)

Low alkalinity and Mg levels attributed to the fact I havent done a water change for about 6 weeks (Xmas and all, my bad) Also when dosing kalk at nights to help maintain levels, the pump that stirs it prior to dosing is dead, all kalk on bottom of drum. Been failed for sometime, my bad again. Replaced the small dead pump with 802 powerhead tonight (thanks Steve - will get it back to ya soon :D )

Mine...

Nitrates:2.5(Not sure why it's gone up a bit)

PH: 8.1

KH: 7.4

Calcium: 400

Salinity: 1.026

The KH is the only thing I really need to work at keeping up, DIY topoff still working flawlessly(Ok, working flawlessly now that I've corrected a small manufacturing flaw)

Results from Sunday evening, lights on for 8 hours.

PH = 8.29 (pinpoint)

PO3 = 0ppm (salifert)

NO3 = 0ppm (salifert)

kH = 8.5 (salifert)

Ca = 460 (salifert)

Mg = 1340 (salifert)

Salinity = 1.025 (refractometer)

Temprature 26 (been fluctuation between 24 & 26 - Heaters are on at 24, no chiller)

Result from last nights tests.

pH = 8.2

PO4 = 0ppm (salifert)

NO3 = 0ppm

kH = 8 (salifert)

Ca = 440

Salinity = 1.025 (Need to get a refractometer as don't trust the swing arm hydrometer)

Temp 26.5 (between 24.5 and 26.5 dpending on time of light period)

Phosphates<>2 :(

Nitrates<>15 :(

Calcium<>425

Magnesium<>1200 need to adjust

Kh<>7

PH<>8.3

Salt<>1.025

Temp<>25

Skimmer removes about 500mls per week

Over the last week I have cut feeding down to once a day frozen every third day.

Can't seem to move phosphates below 2 even with running Zeovit for about 4 months now.

******************** APRIL'S RESULTS *************************

It's that time again to run some tests... April's results...

pH = 8.8 (estimated - from dry tab, perhaps not accurate)

PO4 = 0ppm

NO3 = 0ppm

kH = 9.6

Ca = 400

Mg = 1100

Salinity = 1.026 @ 25 degrees

Changes since February:

- Salinity has gone up .001

- pH is way too high (checking this with 'pH meter' shortly)

- Magnesium has not changed even though there are chips in Calcium reactor :evil:

- Good that nitrates and phosphates are still zero but cant work out why Im getting a bit of green hair algae?

- kH has increased heaps from 7.0 to 9.6, cool

- Calcium up from 380 to 400, cool, but was hoping for around 450

Summary: Calcium reactor needs optimising. pH needs checking during morning hours to compare, if it actually is too high need to reduce kalk dosing/get a solenoid for the Calcium Reactor!

Doh, forgot :( My bad.

******************** AUGUST'S RESULTS *************************

This month...

pH = 8.21 (pinpoint)

PO4 = 0ppm

NO3 = 0ppm

kH = 9.6

Ca = 400

Mg = 1080

Salinity = 1.026 @ 25 degrees

Feel free to list your results here. Sort of using it like an online diary for test results :D

Hey how offen do you guys calibrate your pH meters?

Speaking to someone today who said you need to do a check daily (each time you use them). and allow them to "warm up so to speak for about 10mins as well as soaking the probe in water (tank water) for at least 20mins before use.

The probe should have a plastic cap. Make sure it is wet all the time. The bulb should not be allowed to dry out. Not too sure what happens if it does but in a past life I used to use pH meters with $700 probes so the bosses weren't too keen on replacing them too often.

same, should be stored in dilute KCl
