ichthus
Dunno about anyone else - but I'd be quite keen to see a fish get on a plane. I think I read about it in a Dr Seuss book once...
SHRPLS
You are not allowed to take liquid over 100mm on international flights. Not sure about domestic. Just give the airline a quick call. You wouldn't want to get to checkin and find out that you can't
Zayne
yes its been done before
wee2
quite keen on a fish in chch just so doubt if I could take it back to Auckland.
rcon021
I have done it. Did it 2 months ago, only Air NZ does it. The 100ml rule doesn't apply to domestic flights
ryanjury
Yeah should be able to do it, I think there are tons of threads on it on here so do a search and you will find tons of info.. From memory the best thing to do was just to show up with the fish and not ask too many questions, if you start asking questions of if you can or not it becaomes hard and they just say no.. oO SKIPPY Oo
yeah i have done it on Air New Zealand - from akl to wlg, and will possibly be doing it again shortly if you have the fish wrapped in paper and what not they may require that you take the bag out so they can check underneath the bag to make sure you are not carrying anything dangerous - also make sure they dont XRAY it
alanmin4304
If you ring the airlines they will say no but if you take it on board security don't usually worry because fish don't normally swim in liquid explosives. There is always the risk that they will say no of course.

oO SKIPPY Oo
prior to my first trip on a plane with a fish I ran Air NZ and they said it was up to security - its the usual story - all depends on who you get and what mood they are in when dealing with them
Caryl
My sister and her daughter flew from Blenheim to Auckland with 4 cooler bags (2 each) of fish as hand luggage on the plane with them. Nobody asked, and they didn't tell I have flown with an ice cream container containing an axolotl. The only reaction I got was a "Eeew!" from the stewardess when she asked what was in the container, so I showed her.

Coral
Hi there. It is my story. Three years ego I've sold my beautiful 20 cm Nimbochromis Fuscotaeniatus to Christchurch. By chance I was going on holiday to South Island fallowing week and I offered free delivery. I've placed the fish in the bag (like you would do) and put the bag to small polibox with handle. It was part of my cabin luggage. I kept the box under my seat. Air hostess was ammused. She said "it's OK as long I don't spill the water on the carpet" :slfg:
SHRPLS
What do you do at security, put it throught the xray machine or tell them straight up?
antwan
I did it from Auckland to Christchurch with 6 discus in individual bags, the security people were amazed and were laughing it up when they went through the xray.
