Getting a native permit?

Featured Replies

Hey im wanting to get some Auckland or Northland green geckos

im thinking of getting this enclosure http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=406662796

also does anyone know where to get the permit form to fill in and are DOC still issuing permit?

any comment or previous experiences would be helpful ?also has anyone got any green geckos spare?

Thanks Mason

I purchased the exact same cage about a month ago i think now, its great quality only problem i have had is the locks on the door have already started to rust but you can replace those easily.

you need to get the cage first, the one on TM is a good cage to start with.

contact your local DOC office

first you will need to get the cage inspected then start looking for Gecko, the Auckland greens or forest gecko are a good starter and usually not hard to get.

Also a good idea to join the society as most keepers belong also.

Good luck and keep in mind, natives are addictive!

My friend has one the same similar design to the one on trade me but has two compartments and a glass front?

around the same size will get photo but then could i have greens and forests next to each other????

also is there a chance DOC in auckland wont give me permit even if my cage is right and approved ( limited permits) because dont want to spend $400 and no permit?

Thanks

I haven't got my permit yet I'm just trying to get all my money together haha

Yeh Auckland greens look good to start out with and maybe a forest gecko. Only thing with the cage on trade me I think I will have to drill drainage holes in the bottom to fulfill doc requirements. Does anyone no if when the doc guy comes around to inspect the cage do you have to have all the plants and stuff in it or can it just be empty?

Josh

i am pretty sure he wants to see it setup so he knows the living conditions that they need are provided...i had to have all the bits and bobs there when he inspected my enclosure...
