Ira
Vacuum it out?
Caryl
It is dreadful stuff but at least stays in one place if you don't disturb it. Mine comes and goes and is worse over summer. Excess nutrients in the water I suspect. I have not tried to get rid of it as it goes by itself.
alanmin4304
The goldfish probably love it and think it is xmas.
oO SKIPPY Oo
i have been scooping it out with a net - that seems to work ok but as you say as soon as its disturbed it goes everywhere - i tired one of those industrial wet dry vacs but they fill up to quick (like 20 seconds) and takes too much time to stop and empty it, so my next thought was to try barley straw, but if that doesnt work this summer i might have another go at cleaning it out - i need to rig up my 6000l pond pump with some sort of hose that will allow me to vacuum it all up I'm not sure the fish are eating much of it as it doesnt seem to be disappearing - maybe i need more fish in there - i have 13 or 14 that are a decent size - maybe another 20 or so. the pond is about 2m x 3m x .5m which i think is about 2500L so plenty of space for more fish
Caryl
I thought barley straw was for green water, not that stuff
oO SKIPPY Oo
oh right - it was a suggestion from someone - so thought it would be worth a shot but if its green water only then thats no good. what else can i do or should i just leave it and scoop up as it starts getting too much? Caryl
No idea as mine disappears on its own. The barley straw might work, I don't know :dunno:
calculator
I found that it disappeared from my pond when I increased the flow rate of my pump, so that it all got removed by the filter.
