HummingBird
I just bought this Pleco off trademe, it's listed as a Leopard Pleco but I've looked that up online and it obviously isn't that. Anyone know what it is?
CatBrat
It could be a Common Pleco (Pterygoplichthys pardalis)? Can you get any better pic's? Cheers, CatBrat.

HummingBird
I picked him up today, I named him Odin (king of the Norse gods) here's what he looks like: I'm pretty sure it is a common plecostomus, do you guys agree? I'll get some more pics when he gets into his tank.
Caryl
I'm no expert on plecs but I would say common too.
Vanquish
how much did that beast cost you? i got myself a Red Spot Pleco from Animates in Lower Hutt, for $19.95, its i say its cause i have no idea atm, if its a male or female, 1.5 inches to 2 inches long looks like a crutie atm but will grow big hahah my clown loach was being a dork, lieing on its side, with the shark investigating it
Doc Holiday
It's the same plec that I have at home, It was also sold to me as a leopard plec. But upon further investigation I discovered that it is a gold spot plec, very similar to the red spot but with nicer colourings that last into adulthood unlike the red spot, they, like the red spot grow alot larger than your common plec. Hope that is of some help.

HummingBird
I sold him to Hollywood today, he was too destructive to the plants in my tank. They would only take him for $5 though, which sort of sucks cause I drove to Thames to pick him up too : /
Vanquish
wonder how much profit they'll make on it, i reckon they'll sell it for $40+?
Staplez
sad to hear that man. I saw a nice common pleco at Albany hollywood for $45 he was 30 cm But bugga was he that bad that you had to give him up.
Caryl
You can't have plecs and plants in the same tank. Even if they don't actively root up plants, a swish of the tail does it for them!
Ira
Hey! What's this about redspots not having nice coloring that lasts until adulthood?!?
plecs
when i saw the photo of him in your tank with the plants I wondered how long the plants would last! Mine are much smaller and can do some great damage! Some of the more exotic plecos dont damage plants much (some do though, like my royal) so you could try one of them, and they dont get as big. Will cost you more though! shame, hopefully he will find a good home plecs
HummingBird
I've got a Sailfin plec that's about 15cm long and he doesn't harm the plants at all. He looks awesome, check him out: btw Dawn that's one of your bristlenoses next to him, still going strong
