Hi I just got some rocks from the waitakerie river and have no idea of how to clean them.

I walked for half an hour carrying these on my back and I don't want it wasted. I chose rocks without too many snails or growth. please help

thanks

If they came from a flowing river I would just give them a good scrub with hot water and lots of rinsing.

If they are covered in crap or moss or weed and you don't want to put it in your tank then give them a boil or pour boiling water over them.

wash. put.

Easy :)

People are always worried about introducing nasty greeblies etc but I am not sure what greeblies these could possibly be. Aquaria are not and never will be sterile, they abound with life that you didn't intentionally put there, and that is what makes them healthy.

I agree with Stella's wash, put.

Actually, I would skip the wash part if some of these were on the rock:

Lateria Neritoides, endemic to the north island only. One of or the only bioluminescent freshwater snails.
