Kinbote
After the success of my 'help me choose catfish for my tank' thread, I thought it was time for another. Here's the latest view of the tank And here's the kind of thing I'm trying to model it on; not too bad so far, I think Dimensions are 160x100x50cm. Currently all I've got are rosy tetras, bleeding heart(s) and two hoplo catfish. Any ideas for interesting blackwater amazon fish that would make an authentic looking ecosystem and are available in New Zealand?
Joe
Emperor Tetras, Nematobrycon palmeri :happy1:

Kinbote
spotted metynnis.......  Hoplos seem to be on the mend, at least... I'd still be interested if you've still got them when I've got somewhere to put them. Any chance you could put up a pic of them?

Sophia
cardinals like in the picture. If the water is going to be quite brown then it's good to have something you can see

Kinbote
cardinals like in the picture. If the water is going to be quite brown then it's good to have something you can see I'd like cardinals but that's going to depend on whether I get anything else that might eat them, eg. BGK. Can you identify any of the other species in that picture?
Joe
The ones with the bluey bit under their eyes I think are Head-and-Tail-Light Tetras, Hemigrammus ocellifer, and the ones with the red tails are Red-tailed Phantom Tetras, Hyphessobrycon roseus. Sophia
emerald eyes or some kind of danio hard to tell really Maybe you should pick your big fish first and then think about tankmates.
hovmoller
Maybe you should pick your big fish first and then think about tankmates. Good idea.. I think a flok of hatchetfish would do well in there (with lids on of course) Cardinals are nice but that's what everyone is doing! (incl. myself) A small army of corys would be good.. perhaps Panda or Bandits to stand out a bit against the substrate Edit: forgot to say NICE TANK! Kinbote
emerald eyes or some kind of danio hard to tell really They won't be danios since it's a photo of the amazon. Maybe you should pick your big fish first and then think about tankmates. So suggest some.
