jn87
After buying another tank for my partners lizards Jasper finally get the home he deserves. Just need to put a back ground on it and clean the glass and i will be happy. Is there anything else i need? Does he need a hide?

alanmin4304
You don't need a hide, they will bask most of the day anyway. Do you have UV, powersave light and heat emitter on a thermostat?
jn87
yes i have all of the above Alan, and thanks very much for all your helps with our lizards
Insect Direct
You don't need a hide interesting you say that, i have never been able to make up my mind on whether they do better with or without one... logic would say it gives them a place to hide, give them a little freedom of choice etc gotta be a good thing... not sure it works like that though. repto
i think a hide is a good thing, gives them somewhere to feel secure and safe as they would in the wild, how would you like to be stared at all day everyday??the fact that they always use them if availble must say something? livingart
talked to my beardeds, the girl said she likes her hide for time out times and when she is feeling insecure the male said he hasn't got time for a hide as it would mean less time for people to look at him as he looks so good

WTM
Our dragon doesn't have a true hide per se, but he can hide either behind his big piece of wood, or under the fake plants, which he does. So it definitely seems to be of some benefit, at least for some dragons.
Insect Direct
i use a cardboard box easy to take out when feeding if need be. they sleep in it 99% of the time. if too hot or feel threatened in they go. i sometimes lift the box off them in the mornings if they sleep in to long, and give them a mist to wake em up
