DennisP
Why not both? Variety in diet leads to good health.

Sharkie
you could also blanch your broccoli stalks as well.

Rabbit
Make sure to scrape the seeds out of the cucumber, i feed Watermelon rind, pumpkin, mushroom, zucchini, capsicum, carrot (slightly boiled), egg plant, broccoli stem. Whatever's cheap at the time
henward
why do you remove the seeds from cucumber? i didnt remove it and it was totally untouched thsi morning. left it over night. does the seeds put them off? or does it indicate perhaps the catfish in the tank, numerous catfish are all not hungry? Kumara sounsd like a good idea, higher in protein too.
Rabbit
No there fine but tend to breakaway and end up in the filter.

spoon
i use courgettes and put a knife through them(just an ordinary cutlery knife) this enables them to sink they are normally gone over night
Joshlikesfish
You can use tweezers and attach fishing line for an easy way to get it out
henward
i just stab it into the bits of wood
si_sphinx
Mine eat the cucumber seeds, skin and all. Blanched lettuce too. Drop sliced courgettes into boiling water for 1min, depending on thickness of slice, and they will sink. I find mine don't like broccoli stalks so much an it gos off if not eaten within 24hrs. Nymox
raw kumara? Yeah raw. I tend to find the ones with the orange flesh are preferred over the purple skinned ones. But what ever is cheap. The key is variety as people have been saying, try all sorts, avoid the obvious ones like avocado.
myfishybuisness
my grandads common plecos (all 5 of them) love the seeds they race to get the seeds first :bounce:
DonnaM
The turtles eat kumara, courgette, cucumber etc and the plecos eat all the leftovers. Tho I do sometimes stick a t.spoon handle thru a slice of cucumber or courgette to hold it on the bottom to make it easier for the plecs to eat as well. henward
I took some out today one cucumber totally has no seeds left in it! all bits of cucumber has distinct round rasp marks on the skin side. lots of it. dont know if its the BN, niveatus, gold nugget or cactus or royal. I suspect its either the bn, gold nugger and niveatus. Cactus i dont believe will go for it as much.
waterlogged
i found that if you put to much courgette in after a while it starts to make the tank smell like someone has thrown up careful to take it out after a few days now lol
