SamH
Hello all Today I noticed my ghost angel hiding in a driftwood cave, not swimming around like s/he usually does. Then when it came feeding time I noticed s/he looked like this: Other fish include 11 BN, 3 Corys and 5 other Angels. This fish isn't the dominant fish but sticks to it's half of the tank. Any idea what this is and what's causing it? Thanks -Sam

Adrienne
Hemorrhagic Septicemia? Distinct bright red streaks on fins (caused by vascular inflammation due to systemic/bloodborne bacterial infection) and occasionally patchy red discoloration on the flanks of the body. try googling that and see if it fits. I've taken the description off http://badmanstropicalfish.com/fish_pal ... Septicemia
phoenix44
It's not a ghost angel and is quite a common sight with angels of this colour. There may not be something specifically wrong with it, but furan 2 is the remedy for Hemorrhagic Septicemia. Having said that I would expect to see more blood streaked fins with the condition. Your best bet would be to test your water; mainly for nitrites and ammonia.
SamH
Hmm.... could be that I guess. Other fish show no signs of any issues and the water quality is good. I do 1-2 20L water changes a week and feed lightly. Thanks for the help so far guys
SamH
Checked the tank just now, the Angel was lying dead on a sword plant, slightly bloated. Other fish all seem fine which is good, never know what this was though :-?

alanmin4304
There is also a viral form of that disease on which antibiotcs will not work.
SamH
Thanks Alan. I just hope that all the other fish stay happy and healthy
livingart
it could be that the genes that make up the colour morph of that angel also made it more susceptible to disease or more sensitive to water conditions good luck with the rest of the fish
