supasi
I feed colour bits and Hikari Cichlid Gold Sinking as a staple. I also feed Bloodworms, Shelled Peas, chopped garden worms, shrimp pieces etc.
antwan
Here's some pics. with 4ft double and 2ft double lights over: and with the 150W halide: This is what it will eventually look like: maybe a few more/less plants depending on how rough the geo's are. Mikey
I love that plant on the right hand side of the last picture. Coming along nicely. Good work Cousin
DennisP
1: Looks good. 2: I like the idea of the plant on the right 3: Something long like vallisneria would look good behind the big clump of wood - too bad its illegal. Stupid laws.
phoenix44
Twisted val is legal. nice too! You can also tie the roots of a peace lilly to the piece of wood on the left. Then the plant will be out of the water and look great!
antwan
Uh oh... I planted the right hand side, argh. I'm now torn between the geo's and a school of discus...or both I'll put pics up later tonight when all the glare is gone. That's a good idea about the lily phoenix, would look cool too, but I just want the one side open-top for now.
David R
Its possibly a bit small for both, maybe 4-6 discus (natural-ish looking ones, not bright orange ones please!!) and 4-6 leucos.
phoenix44
What's wrong with orange discus? I prefer the blue diamonds personally  If you are looking for earthy colours - Rose Red is your best bet.
antwan
No, wouldn't go for the brighter discus..bleh  Are leuco's not as bad at substrate-shifting as the alt's? Or did you recommend them cos they don't get as big?
David R
What's wrong with orange discus? Nothing, unless you're trying to create an authentic looking south american tank!! Might as well put some orange parrot fish in there to match, they're part severum so they're kinda south american, right?
antwan
I love that plant on the right hand side of the last picture. Coming along nicely. Good work Cousin Woah! Can't say I expected to see you here, but hey Few plants, pretty accurate drawing above eh I love that sword!

Or did you recommend them cos they don't get as big? Yeah I would like to know as well whether Leuco's will dig out big pits and dig down in one spot beside something like altifrons will?? or more of a general sand sifting all over the place that keeps the substrate even (ish) I thought of a mixed geo/discus tank as well but decided to split them... different temperatures and also temperaments! if you have a group of geos and territorial disputes between them start happening I think the discus might get too freaked out by all the action... Mikey
Woah! Can't say I expected to see you here, but hey Few plants, pretty accurate drawing above eh I love that sword! I've been on the fishkeepers.co.nz forums since I got back from Europe in March... was only a matter of time before I signed up on here I guess Very accurate picture... you sure your not an artist? I like the way the right hand side is open like that... looking forward to seeing it with fish now
antwan
Couldn't help myself. Took out the stump and put another piece of wood in, and I could see through to the back of the tank this morning so it's much nicer. Looks better too. Fruju
Nice tank dude, Ive kept a group of geos before, they look mint in a school of four. Discus should be fine if you want them, but as the geos develop their colour - green, golds, blues etc you wont need discus to make the tank look better. hovmoller
If I was a Geo I'd be very happy in there I think
antwan
Cheers guys. Fruju, yea I'll definitely be getting more, but there were only two in the shop today. They are so cool to watch sifting through the sand. If I got discus they'd be more earthy coloured than bright anyway, they'd just be a mid-dwelling big fish. Fruju
Add a Black ghost knife, adds suspense to the tank 8) intriguing fish to watch, and a pleasant surprise when they are busy around the tank - just an opinion, but I think it would be cooler than discus in there.
