darkfur
CPL may be able to help with a trap definitely, with vet costs probably
LYNDYLOO
I had this problem a few years back, rung my Local Council Office, told them the situation and they happily supplied a Cage. Once the Cat was caught, I could either take it to them to deal with or I could deal to the cat myself, I was told by the Council, the most humane way to put it out of it's misery was to pop it in a plastic bag, tape the bag onto the exhaust pipe of the Car and it would die from Carbon Monoxide Posioning, apparently its not painful they just sort of go to sleep, so Hubby had the job of doing this, being the animal lover that I am I couldn't bring myself to do it, he died rather peacefully, although he didn't like being locked up in the cage and made abit of noise when he realised he was locked in a cage. Hope this helps, I know it doesn't sound like a nice thing to do, but if he is carrying dieases which he more than likely is, then you will be risking your cats catching something from him if they end up in a fight. Good Luck with whatever you decide to do. Lynda
danilada
I have spotted him back, unfortunatly my older girl is under the house hiding. Will try get her in, and I never thought of the council, so will give them a call tomorrow morning, first thing. I would rather they take care of him as even though I wan't him gone, I don't have bone in my body to bring myself to doing it myself. danilada
Thats why I have a Husband  Partner suggested cat + brick = no more cat! So, I said I would deal with it lol, council are coming to pick him up tomorrow. Now I hope he DOES hang around, so they can get him. I placed a ad in our local fish n chips shop down the road, saying this cat was lurking around and that the council would be collecting him tomorrow,. I placed my cell phone number on the ad just incase some-one may recognise the cat as a domestic cat. Hopefully things work out ok.
bronze-dragon
Today we are amputating the limb of a cat who has had its leg shattered by a gun pellet. Shooting is all good if you can shoot and kill, but I highly doubt that the majority of you could actually do that. Then you can have a good nights sleep knowing you shot a cat, but didn't actually kill it, so then it can be taken into the vets/SPCA etc to have limbs removed. What a winner you are (not you personally, although If any of you have shot anything and then watched it crawl away - hopefully to die but probably to just suffer - then the words I'd say to express my feelings towards you would no doubt get me banned). Adrienne
Hope you do manage to get him tomorrow morning. As for $45, I would think it would be a cheap price to pay for your sanity and that of your cats, although I am surprised that they were not willing to take a cat that was probably adding to the problem of unwanted kittens landing on their doorstep. When we first moved to Auckland our young spayed female was harassed by a tom cat to the extent that she stressed out so much, the stress eventually killed her
Tsarmina
i've had 2 cats picked up by the spca and there was no charge. though in one case they were told to come get it or my other half will put a spade through its neck, as they were unwilling to pick up and said i would have to wait (and keep the cat contained) for up to a week. that was never going to happen. Moya
But imagine if it was some-one's pet who had moved in the area and got lost! We had a cat that was harassing the cats at my parents. We were a bit worried that perhaps it belonged to someone in the area, so we caught it in a trap and checked to see if it was a full male or not (you can generally tell quite easily, as the males scrotum is rather....erm....'full'). It turned out to be a tom, and was unfriendly as hell so off to the SPCA it went! In my opinion if there is a problem cat in your area, even if it does belong to someone, if that person has been so negligent as to not de-sex their animal then they should have very little right to complain when you take matters into your own hands (whether this be desexing it yourself, or euthanasia).
