Chlorinated tap water and effects on fish

Hi all,

here in Canterbury, our tap water is neither chlorinated nor fluoridated, it is just spring water (yes, the same stuff we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars buying in plastic bottles). How do you guys deal with the chlorine in your water when doing frequent water changes, or do you not worry about the chlorine?

Any long term effect on fish, beneficial bacteria?

i use a dechlorinator.. don't have the room to age water in buckets and it's not the right temp then anyway. So straight out of the tap and then the required amount of dechlorinator.

Once a month I add TLC beneficial bacteria as a boost.

I only use an additive in my discus tank. All my fighter tanks are filled straight from the hose.

Funnily enough the discus tank is the only one with issues :roll:

i do not use ager.

im in auckland torbay, and my water comes from the okura resevoir.

no problems at all.

bewst to call the water care in your areas, they will have avail to you at request water composition tests they do every day and they average it out.

We are on tank water here in Beachlands so I have no worries as well, but I do have a carbon filter which on a tap in the kitchen and I only use the water from there, just incase
