Aquila
Finally my patience has paid off and I got my discus 2 weeks ago. Its just taken me this long to get decent pictures of them! I got 2 adults (white butterfly and ring leopard) at about 10cm as well as 2 babies (super checkerboards) at 3.5cm from Vincent Discus. I think they are adorable and am really happy with them! The babies have settled in really well and are currently in a bare-bottom tank with a pair of rams. They are eating like piggies 3+ times a day! The adults have somewhat settled in the community tank but are still fairly dark and have yet to eat anything! I'm also getting one of phoenix's turqs tomorrow! And I plan to buy another 2 babies, blue diamonds, in 2 months time
Aquila
The butterfly is still really dark but I love the patch on his/her forehead. I've decided to call him/her 'Inky', short for Ink blot
Aquila
I love the leopard's colours but haven't yet managed to get a pic when he/she doesn't darken up as much. Normally there is much less brown...but at least the stress lines are disappearing! What should I name him/her? And the babies! Sooo cute! They are more brave then the adults
phoenix44
That is a very pretty tank! I really like the inky splotchy one too.. haven't seen one like that before.
Aquila
Thanks phoenix I've managed to keep most of the plants alive! Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of white butterflies but I do like when they have a bit of patterning and colour on their fins and i just couldn't resist this one with its patch! phoenix44
Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of white butterflies but I do like when they have a bit of patterning and colour on their fins and i just couldn't resist this one with its patch! neither, but this one is really unique and cool! and i am really really envious of your tank! The turq you are getting will be fine in this tank, not with the small discus.
Aquila
Thanks! That means a lot coming from you and your planted tank expertise! Someone has been nibbling on my Hormani sword though  ...and I suspect its the bigger SAE...or maybe the clown loach. As if either of them aren't getting enough food! phoenix44
He is tiny compared to them! probably will still steal their food though; its survival of the fittest in my tanks.
Aquila
Yup, he is smaller but definitely holds his own! I saw Inky displaying to him (shaking her tail and fins)...not sure if it was aggressive or excited but all are getting along at the moment. Aquila
Update: The little turq piggie is eating well! He/she is slowly teaching the other 2 to approach the feeding cone :bounce: I saw Inky eating some food from it a couple days ago but haven't seen the leopard eat anything yet. But I do leave some food in the cone in the morning so hopefully he/she ventures out with the other 2 for a snack when the house is empty. They haven't developed a taste for the beefheart yet though...the turq spits it out everytime! So far the tummies of the bigger 2 haven't decreased much and i haven't noticed any loss in conditioning. Had to remove the leopard danios to another tank because they would try to eat everything until they looked like they were about to pop...and then eat some more. Caused to much chaos in the tank too. Aquila
Thanks How is the krib doing? It is good to hear that the little guy is happy and teaching the others to come out more
Scottie841
She is good. Really active and happy. She does get picked on a bit by the fighters but she is bigger than them so she could fight back if she was not happy
Aquila
That's great to hear. She had been sulking since her boyfriend died Are you planning to breed her? She is good. Really active and happy. She does get picked on a bit by the fighters but she is bigger than them so she could fight back if she was not happy
Scottie841
Are you planning to breed her? Not at this stage. We are just going to let her be happy in the tank for now. We might try to find her a boy friend in the future. She seems to get along really well with the one and only penguin tetra in the tank (rescued from LFS because he looked lonely in a tank by himself). She colours up and shows off to him a lot. Aquila
Lol, crazy woman. She's gone delusional and forgot that she's a krib  Not at this stage.
