Morcs
Do you guys reckon I should get. they will be bubba size. Tank is a 4x2x2. Only bottom tank mates will be a pair of senegal bichirs, and a gold spot pleco. I have 20 put aside for myself, but wondering if its overkill and that 10 long term would be a better number? :bounce:
N1CK
they eventually get to 30cm ish but grow rather slow 10 would be better if you want ot grow them out to a good size
phoenix44
naah 20 is good. 18 is better.
Discusguru
20 + 10 is better still  They'll probably take 30 years to grow to 30 cm .

And if i grew them to about 12cm+, and sold half of them, its a good return...
snookie
How big are the sens ?
Gill
I bought 4 bubba CLs and only one survived. I nurtured them all ,well i thought i did.So i would go with buying a few more than you think you want just in case some don't make it... phoenix44
no! 20 is an evil number. why not 18? or 21 instead. I am not going to get sleep knowing someone is buying 20 fish
DEE
hay come on morcs just sell that fancy bike of yours and buy a huge tank and the buy like 500 that solves all this. hahaha :bounce: :bounce:
Charlie
is this thread serious? if so 20 in a 4x2 with those tank mates would be a overkill... honestly i would say 6-8?

Charlie
are you kidding? no? when you consider floor space available 20 would be allot... not only that is the filter up to that bioload? I would say 20 would be way to much and you would be better with a smaller amount...
Charlie
Note: Clown Loach may pretend to be dead at times. Recommended temperature range: 24 - 30 C. [Display in Farenheit] Recommended pH range: 6 - 8. Recommended hardness range: 5 - 15 dH. Warning: You NEED to add more aquarium filtration capacity!!! Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 12%. [What's this?] Your tank is too small - it will require massive amount of frequent water changes per week! Your aquarium stocking level is 316%. [Generate Image] [What's this?] Your tank is seriously overstocked. Unless this setup is temporary, you should consider a larger tank. That was for 20? and just the clowns with nothing else running a fluval

I personally think it would be fine
Charlie
depending on the filtration, I think its overstocking... Not only that it wouldnt be a big return after you add up all the expense... Tank heating, feeding, time...
SamH
so a 432 L tank wouldn't grow out 20 CL very well? I personally think it would be fine Oi! What are you doing up at this hour Charlie, in regards to the aquarium stocking calculator, it only calculates the adult size of the fish. So 20 adult CLs aren't going to make far more waste and take up heaps more room than 20 say, 15cm CLs. Hope that clears things up.
Charlie
I know it calculates the adult size of fish... But how can it be correct to house 20 Clownloaches in a tank with a common pleco that will grow to around 2ft and 2 sens which get big too??? I dont sea any logic to it? SamH
You can move fish to other tanks Perhaps once they grow almost too big for the tank, they are moved on. Sort of like an "advanced" fry grow out tank.
phoenix44
sigh... the perils of internet research... 18 will be fine in there. they are very slow growers, need to be in larger groups. his filtration is adequate. you obviously have overlooked the media in the filter. Morcs
    Sens get to about 12'' max. its rare for them to even get that big, and they are thin. they have minimal effect of bioload. I currently have the 20 clowns in a 2ft tank at work and it looks understocked. and no, i have no intention of keeping the clowns through to full adulthood - to me, they loose their appeal once they start getting big. As A-Town mentioned, I run an FX5. Also with an AC70 Powerhead.
