broms2
I'm thinking of using an old pool filter to filter a pond, anyone done this before and if so what did you use for media etc?

broms2
around 4 x 2.5mtrs 400mm deep, its my turtle pond, the filter i'm running isn't enough. would I use sand or another media?
livingart
personally as they are good muck producers, i would run pumice with a prefilter of filterwool whatever you use will probably need regular cleaning or water changes in the pool i use the TLC Freshwater S.A.T on their pool to help the bacteria in the filter out is the pool concrete or another material? Donnam runs grass carpet on the edge of her pool to avoid the turts scraping the bottom of their shells i have pumice here if you want it
alanmin4304
Do you have it set up so you can do a backwash cycle or do you have to dismantle it periodically and clean the media.
livingart
have it setup to backwash but still have to dismantle every couple of months to clean properly there are a lot of turts in there though

broms2
was also thinking of running UV to help with green water and maybe a prefilter or skimmer inside the pond, I will be plumbing up for waste and will use backwash as well
HaNs
I converted one and used home made pads and pumice as media
