I posted a question in beginers and now at least I know my pleco is a catfish lol

Ive inherited a nice looking pleco and im worried its one of those ones that grow to 40 -50cms. Can someone perhaps help me out with identifying it?

im stuck! Ive looked at catfish planet, but boy there are so many variations!

To be honest now i am 99% sure its not a bristle nose as it has no bristles - although maybe only males have them?

But im not really any closer to working out if its a perhaps a sailfin Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps or the common Pterygoplichthys pardalis. Either way i think these both grow to 40 - 50cms dont they? What on earth am I gonna do with it lol

its about 15 cms now and I have no idea how old it is. Also if I do have a type that grow huge then if I leave it in a 67litre hexy tank then will this stunt it? or will it be a big red clifford?

All and any help or advice is appreciated guys :hail:

thats soooo helpful phonix - i thought it was prob not particularly special but its neat to watch :D

oh no thou .... 15cms will turn into 40cms huh? Know anyone keen for one when it gets big by any chance? it's nice but I like breeding live bearers and i guess when its bigger it will accidently suck the babies up :o

Can I stunt its growth in anyway? like not putting in a bigger tank?
