Neon
I've been in Nelson this weekend and checked out the plants in a small stream nearby. Besides watercress and duckweed I found this plant. Does anyone know what it is? I've looked on the web and I think it might be Ottelia ovalifolia. My other guess is some kind of potamogeton. I think it looks quite cool - hope it's not a pest plant. here's a link to a bigger version of the photo:
alanmin4304
looks like it might be Aponogeton distachyus
Neon
I thought it could be that, but it didn't seem to have any bulbs. Mind you, I didn't dig around too much (it was cold! )
VinsonMassif
We have a lot growing wild in the streams in our area. Has great flower spikes.
alanmin4304
It has a flower spike which forks into two---hence the name which means two flowers. Often when you pull out apanogeton plants they will leave the bulbbehind (and it usually regrows). It can be a pest as it propagates very readily but the plant is allowed. Not particularly atractive in an aquarium as most of the leaves are floating
