alanmin4304 Posted June 25, 2009 Report Share Posted June 25, 2009 They discovered a disease in goldfish imported into Australia from Singapore which would have been a risk to trout and salmon in New Zealand. The fishing lobby has more pull than the fish keeping lobby and native fish don't seem to matter so once again--accountants-1 fish keepers-0. Sounds like the new Calicivirus to me, imagine the benefits to the native inhabitants of our waterways if this one got free ;P. Well, I mean the national aquaculture industry for trout and salmon is worth probably somewhere in the billions, but still, I do love the magnificent spectacle of a rare and endangered Canterbury Mudfish!
