Wok
last time I tested any water in my tanks and taps was around 3 years ago. Haven't bothered since. however I think it is around

alanmin4304
Most Local Authorities try pretty hard to keep the pH slightly alkaline. A pH of 6 would eat holes in a copper hot water cylinder in no time short plus cause dezincification to your brass taps etc where the zinc is eaten away leaving a honeycomb of copper that is next on the chomping list. You don't want to be near a phone at a Council office if the water is acid for too long.
Barrie
about 7 in Glen Eden as well
Caryl
Ring your council, they can tell you.
whetu
Yep, ring the council. They will probably tell you that they try to keep the water at the slightly alkaline side of neutral, but depending on exactly where you live on the water supply network, there are likely to be variations. They may even tell you that the pipes in your area are all cement, and your water is likely to be more alkaline first thing in the morning after it has been sitting in the pipes overnight! If you want to check the accuracy of your test kit, I would suggest you take a water sample to your local fish shop and ask them to test it, at the same time as you test the sample with your own kit. Then compare the results then and there in the shop.
RochelleMay
In Mairangi Bay, ours is about 6.4 Our tank never gets above 6.4 and I was worried with a couple of the fish we have with that pH but they have had no problems as it is very stable Last time I actually tested the tap water to see was about 3months ago and it was about 6 - 6.4.
