Neon
I've had 3 fish die in the past week... one I was really sad about in particular as he was one of my first fish and I used to feed him by hand. He was the apistogramma in my avatar. I was wondering if that means that something's wrong with my tank, but I checked ammonia and nitrite and they're fine. The other fish seem happy enough (touch wood). Is it just something you have to get used to as a fishkeeper? I've only been keeping fish for one year now. snookie
have you been spraying fly spray or anything ?
livingart
old saying is "if you have livestock, you also have dead stock" sometimes fish can die of natural causes it may be nothing or the start of something if all water parameters check out fine it maybe parasitic look closely at remaining fish and observe them for changes in personalities etc
Neon
No I haven't used fly spray or anything. I wondered if it was a new plant I added to the tank recently?
Dave+Amy
could be...where did you source the plant from?
Neon
just from the local fish shop so I'm sure it would have been fine....
Stella
er.... were there any symptoms? We could be guessing till the cows come home.
Neon
I think one of the fish (a dwarf neon rainbowfish) was constipated then got dropsy. I tried feeding peas and doing epsom salt baths but they didn't help. The apistogramma had a cloudy eye on and off for a while, then got dropsy too. The other one that died was a guppy - it was breathing funny and generally looking sad....
