joliet
And if it's acrylic, is it ok to be heated? I actually struggled to find anywhere that mentions what it's made of (even the Aqua One website didn't say!) and when I did I got conflicting information. The one I bought yesterday seemed very light (like acrylic) but says it's ok for a heated tank? :-? :-?
enzoom1
I don't know whether it is arylic or glass but I do know that it can be heated. I had tropicals in a 380 and 126 (both very similar) and never had any melting or any troubles.
joliet
juss dont sit yur heater against the sides. Do you mean the heater glass being pressed against the side or it being suction cupped to the side?

Had a slight panic when I read it was acrylic somewhere because I thought some acrylic tanks weren't made to be heated. That's calmed the nerves though Thanks
joliet
Suction Cups should be fine, juss dont let the actual glass bit of the heater sit against the sides. As long as yur heater is not on full all the time or constantly, it should be fine. It's attached with a suction cup but I'll have to check if it's actually touching the side when I get home (or if Romeo sees this while he's at home .. ) It's set to 26 and the ambient temp in that room sits at about 21 so it shouldn't be working overtime. lmsmith
Acrylic won't bend till closer to 100*, not fish tank temperature. Even if it is acrylic (I'm pretty sure they're glass anyway), it will be fine at fish tank temperature. Acrylic tanks are used by lots and lots of people overseas use tropical acrylic tanks. As a general rule, what Mystic's saying about the heaters is good - the heater shouldn't touch anything because it's more likely to tap against it and smash. joliet
Acrylic won't bend till closer to 100* Haha yeah I figured it wouldn't be too much of a strain at 26*, but thought I'd better check incase there was some toxic chemical released in warmed acrylic or something. Cheers everyone
k1w1y2k
From what I have seen on Trademe and in pet shops, all Aqua One tanks can be heated.

Heh, yeah, I had to read Joliet's post 2-3 times before I realised, "No, it actually IS asking if it's ok to use an acrylic tank for tropicals." Heh, glass will bend if you heat it enough...But you'll need to put something other than water in it at that point.

LYNDYLOO
I have an AquaOne 620T and an AquaOne 980, they both state in the booklet that they are glass, so im sort of thinking yours would be glass too. Just did a google search, first one to come up was an Aqua One AR380 Glass Aquarium so I guess theres your answer
