Adrienne
Would this type of chiller work on an eel tank ? Auction Number: 192014706
livingart
depending on the tank size but yes is the answer up to 500 litres

Stella
always buy a chiller that can more than handle your tank volume. It would be really struggling if the tank was the same as or near to the upper limit of the 'recommended' range. Could be a good buy. Adrienne
Right - I have now purchased said chiller. Next is a filter. Would an external be suitable or would a sump be better. How much water movement do you think I would need. I know the water quality is important but don't really want to go sump.
Stella
Congratulations Are you planning on just having the eel? Probably just an external filter would be fine. This is for a native eel, I assume? (hehehe assume native until proven otherwise ) in that case water movement is not a requirement, they are often found in fairly quiet water. Decent hiding places would probably be more of a requirement.
livingart
if possible a sump in the basement of the house is good as it will usually run cooler pumps etc if they sit in the water will make it slightly warmer by the heat they produce external will do the job
Adrienne
short fin eel - can't put a sump in a basement as the tank is in the school science (bio) lab but could put a sump under the tank.
