kiwiplymouth
I am curious to know if this is a deformity or a recognised tail type with a name. Any ideas? He is the only fish from this spawning with a tail like this.

kiwiplymouth
Thanks guys. Is the double tail gene dominant or recessive? Is he worth breeding from?
yeh_buddy
Sorry to change the focus from your fighter but I was wondering what you guys would make of my little guy?
Aaron-Betta
Yeh_buddy, I have had one of those pop out myself. DT's are a genetic mutation. The normal, nice rounded DT's come from Halfmoon genes. That one of yours and this one of mine: derive from VT genes. These are also named 'scissortails'. The perfect DT would be like a mirror image top to bottom, top and bottom fins the same size and shape and the two tail lobes the same size and shape. yeh_buddy
Ahhh thats very interesting! Thanks very much for that, what do you do with yours just out of curiosity, do you breed him or stick him in a community tank like I have done with mine?
Aaron-Betta
I didn't breed from mine. He lived for 2 years in my community tank.
