aquanaut
I thought i would put up some pics of some sea critters i took photo's of while i was in Antarctica working. They are from Crary lad at Mcmurdo Station. The fish is a mawsoni cod, they are pretty amazing i suggest reading about them. And the others are sea spiders and bugs of some sort, i'm not sure, and a mollusc IMG]http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/rr31/aquanaut/DSCF0182.jpg

Is it just me or is the word 'mollusc' wonderfully and inexplicably entertaining?

tHEcONCH
When you say 'working' do you mean in the kitchen?
aquanaut
the conch, please the kitchen!!!!!!!!! I'm a driller and went down there for 2 months with andrill. We did core drilling into the seabed to 1000 metres for the scientists to study global warming and other things. We got to go to crary lab whenever we had time off so i would go straight to the sea life of course! I'm not sure what the names for the creepy crawlers are, but i know the fish is a mawsoni cod. aquanaut
From memory, slightly smaller than a dinner plate. They do grow bigger than that though.

Guest Anonymous
Scary enough. These creatures are only the tip of the iceberg (hah) of creepy things to be found in Antarctica. We have a nice collection of very odd and creepy things at work collected from Antarctica =\ I'd def be a lil wary swimming there.
