tinytawnykitten
I have a Canon Eos 400D which is great, but it takes FOREVER to transfer the photos to my computer. I have just been using the Eos Utility program that comes with the camera, there's gotta be a better way. I have a 1Gb card and when the card is full or nearly full, it takes around 20 minutes to connect.
Olly
have a look at your computer if its a newish laptop it should have a slot that your card fits into - the card will show up in "my computer" much faster
Dixon1990
Do oyu plug it in using a cable from camera to PC? If you do, get a decent Memory card reader and its alot easier.
tinytawnykitten
Yeah I plus it in via a USB cable. Yay I get to buy a new gadget!
Ira
Yeah, buy a card reader. MUCH faster. And buy a bigger memory card while you're at it. 1 gig is practically useless. That's like 1 picture at max resolution and best quality.
Rozski
My laptop has a SD slot, but the cards in the Canon are so much bigger so its no use anyway. We just use the cable and employ some patience, 20 mins isnt that bad
Ira
My laptop has a SD slot, but the cards in the Canon are so much bigger so its no use anyway. That's because it's not an SD card. It's a CF.
tinytawnykitten
Yeah it is a compact flash, but our best friends own King Country Computers so I have ordered one of his cool multi card reader type thingies. Thanks y'all!

Ira
Exaggeration of the century!!! I'm sorry, how about, as it looks like shooting in Raw on highest quality gives about 26 meg files, it will only give you 40 pictures. Which is pretty much enough to get you a couple good shots if you're lucky while taking pictures of fish.
Zev
Is your computer a laptop? If it is not, and your computer has USB in the front and the back, plug the USB into the back of the computer. The back ones are faster for some reason.
