Ki-Saber
Can I have a dehumidifier in the same room as my aquarium or will it not be affective. I am just getting lots of moisture in the room! Random question I know but could use some help on this one! Thanks

Afrikan
We used to run a dehumidifier in lounge, and yeah it worked a treat... if you have good secure tank lids it won't drop your tank down too much, yet no lids then yeap there goes ya water  We have an HRV unit in now and everything in the house is so dry, no condensation no nothing... well worth it 8)

Barrie
just to make it clear as well Our dehumidifier is an aircon unit that when set on auto, dehumidifies if needed
whetu
The key message is: Make sure you have good, tight-fitting tank lids! If there is a lot of evaporation from your tanks, then that will be adding to your condensation problem. Whether you use the dehumidifier or not, make sure your tanks are nicely sealed. Ira
I lost 30-50L from a 300L tank upstairs in less than 2 days!!!! That's not evaporation, that's a leak.
Dixon1990
That's not evaporation, that's a leak. Nah, its not! lol I was checking for leaks every hour and had to empty the dehumidifier twice an hour
Ira
I dunno how you'd manage that. I've had a 300L with 500 watts of lighting and a big fan blowing across the surface and I only managed to evaporate at most around 5-6L/day.
Dixon1990
Really? I had it half fill which is 25cm at 30 degrees with 1700lph of filtration, in a cold room, and a couple mornings later it was below 20cm, maybe around 18cm. So thats more around 40L but still alot!
