bulldogod
Would any damage be done to the silicon? Would it dry out?
livingart
haven't had a problem with small tanks 1metre long and under big tanks can be a different story in my experience how old was tank before it went into storage ? i think there is a guarantee on silicon tubes of 10 years but not too sure of that more experienced glass people might know
Caryl
Press your finger into the silicon. If it is still soft it should be OK.
bulldogod
Thanks, dont know how old it was and carnt feel it , was a auction on TM and was going to bid but started thinking the silicon might dry over time without water. Auction went to high anyway and I dont really need another tank,

alanmin4304
I am using some that have been stored for over 20 years and they are OK. The RTV does deteriorate though.

Barrie
RTV was probably the first brand of Silicone here in NZ that was used fro glass. I used to glazing the Vindex boats in RTV... thats what made them stable. Before the glass was RTVed in, the cabins would move about all over the place
