dwalk
I've done a search for lithobates ( i assume that is how it is spelt) and can't find much info. Does anyone have the scientific latin name? How agressive are they? Do they get on with the likes of Elec yellows and Demasoni (Both very Young) All help appreciated David
livingart
Sulphur-Crested Lithobate: Otopharynx lithobates will get bigger quicker than those guys gets on well in our large tank
Afrikan
We keep lithos... and breed them, well have done up until recently before they head down a bit from Napier this week coming  They are nice fish... rather peacock like in nature.. can get stroppy... but our lot are pretty laid back. With the two lots of Lithos we have kept and bred from, I always find that the females will try and knock off the weakest link female... just something I have noticed with the Lithos. They certainly do grow fast, long term they would do ok with E yellows and Demasoni... if you have a big enough tank.
ryanjury
Yeah I cant wait to get them Hopefully I have the same luck as you with breeding them... They're cool fish I have a male in my display tank, he didn't grow very fast at all, dem's/yellows would have outgrown him.. Maybe it was just him or he was stunted or something.. Because of them being haps they probably need a reasonably sized tank once getting bigger 4ft+..
Afrikan
Yeah I found Dems very fast growing, I would say that the Lithos are alot faster growing than Peacocks, but majority of mbuna I find faster growing than anything else   Rapt that they are going to you Ryan
firenzenz
I recently swapped my breeding pair, but kept the biggest male from the last spawn. His growth rate is amazing, and what a guts. I agree with the rest in terms of 'peacock like' behaviour as a general description, but they will bully some of the smaller more passive peacocks, and fryeri which they are very prone to Xcrossbreed with. Beautiful fish- I wouldn't imagine too many issues with your fish. This was my male -he was 1 yr old and was only really starting to get his blue colouring coming through. I'm not sure what variety we get here, some varieties will colour up a lot more blue than others. Here is a link which gives you some of the variants. http://www.cichlidforum.com/profiles/re ... ?genus=141 Others may have an idea of what we have.
