danilada
Who here has one? What is there temper like?
tHEcONCH
They are quite shy and sensitive and can be difficult to keep because they are very sensitive to poor water and also some common medications, and sometimes they can also be difficult to feed - they often die prematurely because people assume they are easier to keep than they really are. danilada
With the right conditions and different foods, do you think they should be ok to keep?
tHEcONCH
Like most fish they are fine to keep if you meet their needs, which means very high water quality, the right kind of substrate, no aggressive or fastmoving fish, plenty of cover, and the right kind of food. They tend to not do very well in community tanks but can do quite well in tanks set up around them.

VinsonMassif
Mine is not shy at all. He keeps my Angels in line. As long as you provide something that covers its entire body (wood or 4" tube) and plants it will come out during the day too. I hand feed mine. It took two days for it to learn to eat out of my hand. It eats all manner of frozen food except shrimp. It loves live worms and mosquito larvae. It didn't like my gourami and kept chasing it around the tank, so I rehomed the gourami. I do 30% water changes every two days which keeps it pristine. They need at least a 3' tank otherwise they act like they are caged in seeing as they use there electrical sense to navigate and find food. In a small tank they are more likely to die prematurely. tinytawnykitten
I never see them in stores though, at least not in the Wellington region. Have you seen one Danielle?
snookie
they are quite pricey at the moment ,also can not be kept with bgk as they are both electric fish ,

tinytawnykitten
Yeah I was in there today and saw one there. Very interesting looking. I am on the lookout for an oddball for my community tank. I bought a spiny eel from Animalz a couple of weeks ago and I really like him when I get to see him (which is rare!).
