Conveniently this is between Stellas place and the central city (closer to the city by far) and is reported to be quite nice. The nearby intersection could be a nightmare due to roadworks...

I don't know anything about the other places suggested.

If anybody wants to bring a tent then they can put it up on my back lawn (my place is a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute car ride from Stellas but further from the city). I have no native fish though.

Yet ;)

Yeah, that Peppertree place looks good, could be even more social if you all wind up staying in the same place, and it makes it easier to do any carpooling.

I am really looking forward to this trip! :bounce:

So, who is a definite? :D

I suspect it would be mid-afternoon-ish at my place... to give people the time to make it here in a leisurely fashion, check in with accommodation etc.

The plan for that day is to meet, look at my fish, go to the farm creek, do dinner somehow and go up to the turitea stream when it gets dark for some spotlighting.

Andrew, you know the sites, what sort of timing makes sense to you?

There's always 'Hell Pizza' somewhere (my place?). Bear in mind that it *is* Easter and various things may not be open on the Friday or Sunday...

It should be getting dark around 8:00-ish I guess (Daylight Saving Time ends in early April). I think that if we left your place at 4:00 then we could do that farm stream with the Uplands Bullys (perhaps coming back via the Ashhurst Domain where there are mudfish even if we'll never see any, other than pictures at the visitors area :). We could then do pizza/subway/takeaways/cucumber sandwiches at my place or elsewhere (where late people could meet us) and then head for the Turitea (which for out-of-towners is only 15 minutes away) for some spotlighting. We could then head back to town where people can either hit their beds or socialise some more at a yet to be established venue.

How does that sound?

Bear in mind that people who don't come to Palmerston North all the time may want to check out Wet Pets and perhaps Animates at some stage.

Andrew.

Hi Caryl,

That is a real shame you can't come up, I was looking forward to meeting you! ;) Depending on interest we might plan another one for early next summer or similar with a bit more notice.

Me coming to the conference is reasonably definite, it is going to cost more than I want to think about but should be good. Yes I do need to join a club, it was going to be the wairarapa one, but then they went into recess!

So again, who is coming? Definite? Hoping to wrangle it? Maybe? What would you need to have your arm twisted? Do you need a ride? :)

I suspect the NZKA would have you. It's a postal club anyway.

The AGM is apparently early April so membership after that would work.

Let me know if you want to know who to talk to.

Me. :bounce: :bounce:

I will definitely make it on at least one of these trips if I can get off work early enough.

I will mention it to Nicolas the French Guy here at work. He is interested in the natives too.

I'll call you Stella or Andrew to confirm, some time this week.

I Should be able to get my hands on a good spotlight we can use.

Cheers Pete

Just read this now.

I'm keen :)

I'm not sure how much money i'll have, HOWEVER, in TAUPO there is a kickass little area where its possible to go sleep in your car, 10 minute walk to hot pools, we go there a bit with the youth group, coming down from SH1, first main road left, at a fork where there is a skate park, hang left, and its about 200m down the road.

I'll probably sleep there as its free ;)

Cooool to you both! The more the merrier.

Pete: We shall have to factor in a trip to Wet Pets at some point along the way! ;)

Mark: There are a heap of people here from Taupo, I'm sure someone will have a couch you could stay on and fish you could drool over. They might even have flush toilets and running water! ;P

I believe Andrew still has a spare bed free. My couch is BlueandKim's for the weekend.

This should be a great trip, I am really looking forward to it. Just as long as the koaro and redfins are over their ich by then...
