kiwiplymouth
I have just bought a 5 footer. 1500 x 500 x 500 Approx 375L I was thinking of getting a Cf1200 to filter it. Is this a good option? Any suggestions welcome. Cheers
dimebag
yep cf1200 will be fine, great filters for the price, never had any problems with mine
kiwiplymouth
Cheers. I would prefer to over filter than under filter. I was wondering if i should go to something that does 1500lph and if i went that way. what is a good brand?
dimebag
2 cf1200's?
MarkLB
I have a similar size tank.5 foot/450 litres. I run 2 CF1000s. 1 is solely for mechanical filtration and the other is for bacterial filtration. They work fine but I don't have a huge population. Caryl
I would run 2 of them too
Ira
Heh, I was going to say two CF1200s too.
kiwiplymouth
Are 2 cf1200's beter than 1 cf2200?
Ira
Hmmm, I'd thought the biggest was the CF1200, Never seen a CF2200. But I'd imagine they would also be acceptable.
kiwiplymouth
1 cf2200 is cheaper than 2 cf1200's but is it better to have two filter intakes i.e one at each end of the tank? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =140422597
Ira
Hmmm, It's only about $10 cheaper than a pair of CF1200s. I guess it's really up to your preference. Half the filter maintenance VS having some filter redundancy if one dies.
SpidersWeb
I'd prefer two 1200 filters than a single 2200 (althogh they make a 2400 as well) But irrelevant of flow rates, which combination holds the most media? Whichever holds the most media will win hands down (unless space is of consideration).
Wok
Just to stir up the water, so to speak. How about a Fluval FX5? should be more than enough filtration. and shelzie has one for sale in the private trade and exchange section! But then we're talking double the price again of either the two CF1200s or single CF2200. And I think I'd probably go for two CF2200 instead of a single FX5 for almost the same price.
