Marlborough Wine & Food Festival 08

It was the 25th anniversary this year.

We started work at 7am and got home at 8pm. Great day. Saw lots of interesting sights :-?

Grant belongs to the local Amateur Radio Club and they provide communications for the event. We also guard the chillers behind the scenes. We direct security and police to where they're needed, call the electrician, plumber etc when needed and tell the ice man which stalls have run out of ice, and all sorts of other things.

Just a single day. Tickets limited to 10,000 these days, unlike previous years when we had 20,000 crammed into a relatively small site

All sorts of related activites go on in various places throughout the week though with wine tastings, gourmet chef stuff etc.

Only 57 of the local wineries participated in the festival itself, out of several hundred.

As a matter of interest (or maybe not  ) I walked 10.7km at the wine fest and took 12,726 steps

Just as well since I also ate 2 Olle Bolle (Dutch donuts - loose translation is "oily balls". Deep fried fruit bread dipped in cinnamon and sugar, split in half and filled with whipped cream), a marinated lamb shank, 4 mini Pinkie Bars, a mini Crunchie, a mini Gold Moro, a hot cross bun and 2 banana choc chip biscuits 8) :bounce:
