HaNs
http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/basic- ... 23675.html You are going to be needing a big mofo skimmer There is no corner cutting in marine. Do it once and do it right
markoshark
If he is only getting fish, he won't need a skimmer. A skimmer is ADVISABLE, but not required. In a tank that size, he could "plant" the tank with macro alge, and do nutrient export by pulling it out when it grew too much. Fish. Don't get anything too big. School of tangs would be nice, couple of clowns etc. Or, get angels.
wasp
Keep us tuned in with this project Henward if you go ahead. A FO tank can in some ways be quite good because you can keep all those non reefsafe fish, some of which are real nice fish. It can also be done cheaper than a full reef tank because lighting is not so critical.
Ira
No need for uber lighting. No need to keep calcium and magnesium and etc all perfect, no need for huge skimmer, no need for stupid amounts of random flow...

puttputt
Schools of tangs, angels, triggers???????? and apparently you don't need a skimmer - whatever!! The money you save on lights and flow etc on a big FO tank should go into the skimmer.
