Mrs Frog
Not the best pics but I have two Geophagus fish but i suspect they may be different species...but then again I would have no idea so I'm hoping to get some ID from here...heres the pics same fish again and my smaller one below the smaller one seems to show some intense black stripes and a black dot whereas the bigger one doesn't show any black markings at all...none that are very obvious at least. livingart
you are probably correct on id on second one as well
[email protected]
at a glance your second fish could be a salvini tho with out a good profile one can never be absolutely sure. I imagine if there was a black stripe going diagonally across the face from top to jaw and also a black spot on its flanks it could well be a brasiliensis... good luck
peterpindare
mate i could help you if you had clear pics!! it may not be surinamensis, as alot of people just call them that!! but really there are alot of geophagus that look simalar for eg: geophagus rio branco geophagus surinamensis geophagus dicrozosters and the list goes on! please Mrs Frog give me a nice picture and i will try and give you the right name for your friend!! or you can just say its a surinamensis! depends on how fussy you are ? I am wondering if the second one is a brasilensis?? im 99% sure that the secound pics is NOT brasilensis
