Bad Advice

Today i was in a local chain store pet/fish shop in chch (let me point out this was NOT ORGANISM OR REDWOOD AQUATICS - they are both great shops) and i was astounded to hear some of the information being given out by shop assistants. A couple was in the store buying two goldfish, i think they were also buying a small tank at the same time. As i was walking out I heard the staff member say to the couple 'If you end up not liking the goldfish you can just release them in to the wild' :o

I was dumbfounded that someone would say this and put our native waterways at risk and that it was acceptable to just throw away fish as though they are some disposable item.

has anyone else had a similar experience? Needless to say it just reminded me why i avoid places like these shops and only go to good places like organism and redwoods

better might have been to actually go up to the people while the sales person was still with them and tell them exactly where he/she was wrong with everything. Puts him/her in his/her place, sets the people straight, might make them decide on better shopping options in the future.....or you might just make yourself look like a complete ass -- but at least it would be fun.

lol or just get there name goto maf and say that the petshop assistant was suggesting to people to release goldfish into the wild.. :)

Mind you that would probably do more harm that good with maf and those of us that wouldn't do or say something so stupid, best just to approach the person or shop with it..

in this world and on this site as well, there is a lot of advice given that is not right yet people continue to give it and dont seem to learn.

I suppose that what Im trying to say is that often people dont realise that they are giving or being told incorect information. The shop assistant possibly though they were giving good information?

In my trade, Im often called in to fix what other qualified (and some not qualified) trades men have told customers. The most common of these is that you can use silicone to glass timber windows.( this nullifies any garentee on the joinery)
